Invitation Kata Tournament

Course tournament 

The sports hall will be open at 09.00  and till 10.00 you can check in. Briefing referees at 10.15 and coaches 10.30. The tournament starts at 11.00. Referees please inform Shihan Willy De Peuter at .:   depeuter.willy@skynet.be 

  

Entrance fee 

The registration fee for a participant will be 11 €. Spectators pay 8 €.

The deadline for registration will be 23 September 2025. 

tournament rules:  

We wish to have a sportive tournament. Therefore we would like to ask your extra attention to the following points.  

- At arrival, Dojo coaches must check in their team, including payment and registration (one team = one payment).  

- Refereeing is placed under leading of Shihan Willy De Peuter, Referees wear the official referee clothes 

- Coaches are wearing a tracksuit.  

- Each dojo has a maximum of 1 coach.  

- Coaches are an example for their students, so please show the right type of behaviour. Every type of wrong behaviour can lead to disqualification of the participant, coach or even the entire dojo.  

- Only coaches and athletes are admitted in the competition area. All other public has to stay in the tribune, cafeteria, … We ask coaches to help us to inform parents and other public not to stay in.  

  

Competition system:  

Kata competition takes place according to the same elimination system as in kumite (pyramid system). Referees use flags to say which competitor wins.  

The competition takes place in principle in rounds with exclusion in each round. If there are less than 4 participants in a category we will make a poule-system.  

Elimination rounds: Competitors will perform a kata chosen by the referee before each match from the list of the elimination kata. 

 

Semi finale/ Finale (kata chosen by candidate) :  

All finalists and semi-finalist must choose and perform 1 kata off their own choice. Referees use flags to indicate their decisions. It is allowed to perform the same kata in final and semi-final.. 

 

Team Kata: 

 

Each team chose a kata and changes the kata each round.  

There are 2 categories in team kata 10 th till 5 th kyu and 4 th kyu and higher . 

 

This year we also make 4 categories reserved for ladies and gentlemen + 45 years . 

 

 Criteria of decision:  

Because kata’s can be different in the participating organizations we will take care that there can be difference. The following criteria shall be evaluated for decision in the match: 

- A realistic performance of the Kata meaning and a complete performance (Riai).  

- Demonstrate a proper, understandable performance of techniques (Bunkai).  

- Correctly applied power, timing, rhythm, speed, acceleration, balance and focus of power (Kime).  

- Proper breathing to assist the force and focus (Kokyu, Ibuki, Kiai).  

- Proper attention (Chakugan, Zanshin).  

- Correct posture and position (Shisei, Tachi).  

- Proper techniques (Kihon, Waza).

You are only registered when we received your payment on our bank account BE56 3631 0775 2488 together with the list of participants and coach. In addition of the name and first name the list also contains a telephone number or an email address  

 

Spectators pay on the day itself (8€)
